Day 1: Start your once-in-a-lifetime adventure by flying to Brazil. Upon arrival to sunny Rio de Janeiro take the day to settle in at your hotel and explore the city on your own. Indulge in some of the city’s delicious cuisine or relax to the sounds of Samba, a traditional type of Brazilian music.

Day 4: Today you will get to take an up close and personal tour of the 275 waterfalls that make up the Iguazu Falls. If possible try to take a smaller tour, as it will ensure a more personal experience, and allow for more time to explore. Most tours take guests on the upper circuit which is fit for any traveler, as there are few stairs, this section also allows for great pictures, so don’t forget your camera!

Day 5: Head from the Buenos Aires airport to your comfortable hotel, where you can settle in or explore the marvelous city of Buenos Aires, also known as “The Paris of South America.”

Day 6: Take a tour of Buenos Aires to learn about the city’s history and explore some of the most famous districts. Be sure to stop by the Plaza de Mayo, which is where some of the city’s most important buildings sit. Also a visit to the districts of San Telmo, Palermo, and La Boca will allows you to get a feel for the diversity within this lively city. Most importantly check out a Tango show at one of the city’s many Tango houses; this will be a highlight of your trip!

Day 7: You will travel to Peru today! Your flight will take you to Cusco via Lima, and allow for a walk around town before turning into your Cusco hotel.

Day 8: Spend the day exploring Cusco; there are many excellent tours that you can take to learn more about the history in this fascinating city. There are also opportunities to hike to a hilltop forest of Sacsayhuaman.

Day 9: Take a trip to arguably the most impressive archeological site in South America, the marvelous Machu Picchu. Take a train ride through the mountains to the base of Machu Picchu where you will take a bus up to the citadel. Take a guided tour of the ruins or explore the ruins independently.

Day 10: Having visited Brazil, Argentina, and Peru this South America vacation will be one to remember. Take your flight from Cusco back to Lima, and then on to your next destination.

If you’re trained as an occupational therapist and if you have at least two to three years of experience, have you ever considered pursing occupational therapy travel jobs? Here is some information about traveling OT positions to consider.

The best benefit to taking on travel OT assignments is…the travel! You’ll have the opportunity to live in different towns and regions and experience different rehabilitation therapy settings — rehab centers, hospitals, out-patient clinics, etc.

However, if you have considerable family obligations, or if you don’t feel comfortable leaving your family for an extended length of time (most OT travel positions last about 13 weeks, some longer, some shorter), occupational therapy travel jobs may not be for you. (That said, it is possible to bring your family with you; many OT travel services can help make arrangements for your family to come along on your adventure.)

You also need to be comfortable with work that may or may not be “steady.” You could see a few days or weeks between assignments, so if you absolutely, positively must have a weekly paycheck, you may want to consider staying put with a staff position.

However, and this a biggie, you’ll undoubtedly earn more per hour as a traveling OT than you would as a regular staffer.
